There’s still plenty of buyer interest in Potts Point, particularly at the pointy end of the market.

The neighbourhood’s luxurious penthouses and new high-end developments are capturing lots of attention.

Despite the recent market cooling, Potts Point is still hot property, with prospective buyers eyeballing the area’s upscale apartments and luxury penthouses in particular.

The fundamentals of the blue-chip suburb, with its close proximity to the city and waterfront, along with easy access to high-end shops, restaurants, cafes and nightlife, mean that it’s always going to be a desirable area. Its closeness to parklands and nearby Elizabeth Bay, Rushcutters Bay and Darlinghurst are also part of its big appeal.

Recent changes in the suburb’s nightlife – Potts Point is no longer the late-night hub and red-light district it once was – have led to a number of luxury developments in the area seeking to accommodate those wanting a cosmopolitan inner-city living. Among them are IDA Potts Point, a $16 million development with sweeping harbour views, and The Hensley, which has updated two old terraces on Bayswater Road into 44 modern apartments. Nearby in Rushcutters Bay, the Encore at Advanx is offering 40 modern luxury apartments surrounded by leafy parks and great eateries.

The most viewed property in NSW

One stand out new development is the Omnia. The 19-storey mixed-use building is home to 135 luxury apartments and two levels of retail. The developers are Greenland, with the building’s striking design being overseen by award-winning architects Durbach Block Jaggers. Thanks to its positioning, right near the iconic Coca-Cola sign, the building offers sweeping CBD skyline views to the west and stunning harbour views over Elizabeth Bay, Watsons Bay and North and South Heads to the east.

In fact, Omnia’s ultra-luxurious four-bedroom penthouse, with its jaw-dropping vistas of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, was the most viewed property on realestate.com.au in the first week of 2019. Perhaps buyers were feeling aspirational at the start of a new year. Or, more likely, many have realised that this area is full of great opportunities and now could be the perfect time to buy in.

According to data from realestate.com.au, Potts Point properties are seeing high interest across the board with an average of 696 visits per property listing on the site over the past twelve months. Rushcutters Bay gets similar views while nearby Elizabeth Bay clocks up a whopping 1127 average views per listing.
